How are integration routes assigned? What the data can and cannot say

Route data can show how decisions vary across groups, but it cannot explain an individual assessment. Read the cohort and category definitions before interpreting patterns.

Understand the decision process

The municipality discusses circumstances and learning options, then records a route in the PIP. Ask your contact person how your own assessment informed the plan.

Read route figures carefully

CBS may report the shares assigned to B1, education or self-reliance routes, alongside cohort and background categories. The totals reflect the data and definitions in that publication.

Use evidence for your own case

National statistics do not replace an individual review. If your route seems unsuitable, discuss progress and practical circumstances with the municipality and ask how the PIP can be reconsidered.

Separate patterns from individual decisions

A dataset can show how route advice or final assignments vary across categories. It usually cannot show every detail of an intake conversation or explain why one person received a particular route. Read the distinction between advice, municipality decision, and later route change before drawing conclusions. Treat changes over time carefully: revisions to classification or the mix of cohorts can affect the totals.
