ONA result cards: turn your experience into a portfolio
Prepare the ONA result cards from your own work and career experience. Follow the current evidence instructions and check whether an exemption applies before submission.
Choose one job for all cards
The first card asks you to identify several possible occupations and select one desired job. Complete the remaining seven cards about that same role. Choose a specific paid job, not a broad sector such as care or hospitality. If you are self-employed or plan to start a business, the selected job must still be a role you could do as an employee.
Collect evidence as you work
Use the official card forms, explanation and vocabulary list. Evidence can support your research, qualifications and job-search plan. Keep copies of documents and make sure they relate to the chosen job. If you discover a qualification or childcare barrier, describe a practical way you could address it.
Submit the portfolio
Send the completed portfolio and required evidence through Mijn Inburgering, or use the paper route if you cannot log in. DUO may take several weeks to review it and can return incomplete or inconsistent cards. Check the current instructions and submission route before sending.
Complete the next step after approval
An approved portfolio is not the full ONA requirement. You also complete either the final interview or, where allowed, a 64-hour course at an approved school. In 2026, the listed ONA fee is €40. Check whether you qualify for an exemption before paying; keep the approval and appointment details.
