Naturalisation: prepare evidence for the integration requirement

Gather the integration documents relevant to your naturalisation route. Check the current municipal and IND requirements before booking an exam or appointment.

Find the evidence route that fits

Many applicants meet the integration requirement with a civic integration diploma. Other accepted options can include certain NT2 diplomas, exemptions or dispensation decisions. A2 is the general language level stated for naturalisation at the current guidance date, but accepted documents and exceptions vary.

Understand NT2 documents

A complete Programme I or Programme II diploma may satisfy the requirement; separate certificates for only some NT2 parts usually do not count as the full diploma. If you passed all four parts before the diploma exchange process changed, contact DUO about obtaining the official diploma. A verified digital extract may be accepted; check with your municipality.

Check exemptions and individual cases

Possible exemptions can relate to age, schooling, disability or other circumstances. Some applicants may use foreign diplomas or a DUO decision. Turkish nationals and people applying under other specific routes may have distinct rules. Do not rely on another applicant’s document list.

Prepare for the appointment

Confirm identity, residence, language evidence and any required translations with the IND and municipality. Bring originals or the exact verified format requested. The integration diploma covers only the exam requirement; the IND separately assesses residence, public-order and other naturalisation conditions.
