After the A1 exam: connect the result to your MVV application
Passing the A1 exam abroad is only one stage of some MVV applications. Coordinate the result with the sponsor’s application and check the relevant validity dates.
Save the final result
Check that the result notice shows the required components as passed and keep the full document. The exam result is generally usable for one year from the date the last required component was passed. If that period may expire before the application is filed, confirm the rule for your case with the IND.
Continue with the MVV application
The sponsor or applicant follows the IND process for the relevant residence purpose and submits the requested evidence. Passing the basic exam is only a requirement where the rules for that application say it applies; exemptions and other conditions may affect an individual case. Use the IND checklist for the current procedure.
After arriving in the Netherlands
The exam abroad and the later civic integration obligation are separate steps. After registration and receipt of the relevant personal details, DUO sends information about the applicable duty and deadline. Read that letter, identify whether the 2013 or 2021 system applies, and follow the municipality’s plan if one is assigned.
