The Module Labour Market and Participation (MAP)

MAP is organised through the municipality for people on applicable 2021-law routes. Your plan and local instructions describe the activities and how completion is recorded.

Check your plan and route

MAP is generally part of the B1 and self-reliance routes. People following the education route are usually exempt while in the language-transition programme. Check your PIP and Mijn Inburgering rather than deciding based on language level alone.

What the programme includes

The municipality arranges activities in two areas: finding and keeping work, and taking part in society. These may include job applications, workplace expectations, volunteering or other practical activity. At least 40 hours must be practical labour-market activity. Your municipality decides the total programme and explains which tasks count.

Complete the municipal review

MAP usually ends with a conversation at the municipality about your activities and what you learned. Keep attendance records and any evidence the municipality requests. Ask how existing work or volunteer hours fit the programme before assuming they count.

Check the deadline and support

The usual integration period is three years, based on the date in your personal plan. MAP is free. If you have no invitation or a delay may affect your completion, contact the municipality and keep a record of your messages. DUO, not the municipality, decides whether an integration deadline extension applies. Late fines and municipal enforcement are separate processes.
