KNS A1: revise society themes with a simple study map

Review the seven KNS subject areas through everyday settings, images, and simple Dutch vocabulary. Connect terms to situations instead of studying lists alone.

Review the seven themes

Study the Netherlands and daily life, history, government and rights, the Dutch language, parenting and education, healthcare, and work and income. For each theme, learn who is involved, what usually happens and which basic rule or service applies.

Connect photo clues to vocabulary

The exam uses photos and spoken questions with two answer choices. A picture of a doctor’s office may connect to huisarts (general practitioner) or afspraak (appointment); a job scene may connect to work, income or a CV. Look at the image, listen for the key word and answer the question asked.

Practise with official study material

Use the official self-study package and photo book by theme. Cover the answer, describe what you see in simple Dutch and then check. Watch or read the material in a language you understand first if needed, then revisit it in Dutch.

Know the limits of sample questions

The real KNS exam has 30 questions in 30 minutes. The short official sample helps with the format but is not the whole syllabus. Learn the seven themes and practice recognizing slow spoken questions; avoid relying only on old question lists or memorized answers.
