What proof you receive after passing
The document you receive depends on the exam and route you completed. Identify its issuer and keep the digital record available for later applications or study.
Identify the record for your route
A civic integration diploma under the 2021 system records the level of the language exams. The older 2013 diploma uses a different format and may show A2 even when a higher level was achieved. The municipality issues the completion certificate for the self-reliance route (Z-route). State Exam NT2 issues a certificate for each passed component; passing all four leads to a Programme I or Programme II diploma.
Download the official digital document
Use the diploma register with your own DigiD, find the relevant qualification and download its PDF. Digital extracts include a way for recipients to verify authenticity. Send the original downloaded file when digital proof is accepted; editing, scanning or exporting it through another app can break the verification feature. A recipient cannot log in and retrieve your record for you.
Allow time for processing
A diploma may take several weeks to appear after the final result. While waiting, save result notices and completion letters. If it remains missing after the published processing time, check that you are using the register for the right issuing body and contact its diploma service with your exam details.
Paper documents and replacements
A digital record is valid proof in many situations, but ask the receiving organisation what format it accepts. For NT2, the first paper diploma is normally free and can take up to eight weeks; a replacement has a fee, which is listed by the exam authority (reported as €72 for 2026). You can download the digital record again if you lose your file. Ask your municipality for a missing Z-route certificate.
