Choosing Programme I (B1) or Programme II (B2)

Programme I is set at B1 and Programme II at B2. Match the programme to the written requirement for your study, work, or integration goal.

Start with the authority that will use your result

For the 2021 integration system, follow the programme and level recorded in your personal plan and confirm changes with your municipality. For naturalisation, check IND’s current evidence rules. For study, ask the admissions office. Healthcare and childcare have profession- or setting-specific requirements, including which components count. Do not book based only on a general idea that a higher level is always better.

Compare the programmes

Both programmes test Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking on a computer. Programme II uses more demanding texts and tasks and targets B2. You can take it without first passing Programme I. Each skill is assessed separately; a complete diploma requires passing all four components in one programme.

Check partial-proof rules carefully

Some professional rules accept selected NT2 components rather than the full diploma, while other applications require a full diploma. The accepted level and component combination can vary. A school can also set its own language admission standard. Ask the receiving organisation to confirm the exact evidence it accepts and how recent it must be.

Plan registration after confirming the level

Check the schedule and available places before choosing a date. Fees are charged per component, so the full set costs more than a subset. Consider your current reading, listening, speaking and writing skills and try the official practice environment at the intended level before booking.
