B2 reading: test a claim against the text
Work through an original B2 text by separating its claim from the evidence and conditions. Use the passage to test which answer is supported.
Practice with a short text
Original practice text: The city will add bicycle parking near the station in September. A survey found that commuters want covered spaces, but the first phase will include only an open parking area. Covered places are planned for a later phase if the pilot is used often.
Answer evidence questions
Question: What will be available in September? Answer: An open bicycle-parking area. The text says covered spaces are planned later. Question: Is the covered area certain? Answer: No; it depends on use of the pilot. The condition matters more than the repeated word “covered”.
Work through the reasoning
Identify the time period, the main change and any condition. Compare each answer with the exact sentence that supports it. Distinguish a current plan from a possible future step, and a survey result from a decision.
Apply the same method to longer texts
Preview the title and paragraph structure, read the question, then locate evidence. Watch for contrast words such as maar (but) and conditions introduced by als (if). For NT2 Reading, only the approved paper dictionary may be used. Practise under time limits and review why tempting alternatives are inaccurate.
