B1 speaking practice: answer in a clear sequence
Practise a short response, review the recording, and try again with a new prompt. Focus on completing the task and connecting ideas clearly.
Know the task rhythm
Programme I speaking has 16 tasks: eight short answers with about 20 seconds to speak, followed by eight medium answers with about 30 seconds. Preparation time is brief, and the recording advances automatically. You cannot return to earlier tasks. Approved adjusted exams may use different timings.
Plan a compact response
First identify what the prompt asks you to do: request, describe, choose, advise, explain or give an opinion. For a short item, answer directly and add a relevant detail. For a medium item, use a simple order: state your choice or point, give a reason, and finish with an example or next step. Use linking words such as omdat (because), daarom (therefore) and eerst (first) only where they help the listener follow.
Review with a recording checklist
Record practice on a phone or computer, then check whether you answered every part, used understandable sentences, kept a steady pace and pronounced key words clearly. Do not memorize a full script: practise adapting the same structure to different work, study and daily-life situations. No dictionary is available during the exam.
Understand how results are judged
Assessors consider whether the answer fits the situation and covers the requested action, along with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and fluency. Each component needs a converted score of at least 500. Use official format examples to learn the interface and timing, then practise with fresh prompts.
