When can a B1 route use A2 exams?
Some B1-route learners may be permitted to complete language exams at A2 after an official assessment. Ask the municipality how the decision affects your plan before booking.
Discuss progress before the deadline
If you have completed substantial language study but B1 still appears out of reach, ask your municipality to assess your situation. The education provider may be able to share information about progress and support tried.
Confirm the current conditions
DUO’s route information describes a minimum of 600 course hours before lowering the B1 level. Your municipality must assess whether the full requirements apply and are met in your case. Do not treat the number alone as approval.
Wait for the plan to reflect the decision
Check that the approved A2 level appears in your updated PIP and Mijn Inburgering before booking. Ask how the change affects remaining exams, timing and any other obligations.
Ask about the conditions before booking
A lower exam target is not an automatic choice for everyone assigned to the B1 route. The municipality assesses the learner’s situation and records any approved level change. Ask which language skills remain required, how the change affects your course or planning, and whether the decision has appeared in your official overview.
