A2 writing: build a complete short message
A useful short message explains why you are writing, gives the information the reader needs, and makes the next step clear. Try the original model, then create your own.
Read the task carefully
Practice prompt: “You cannot come to your Dutch lesson on Tuesday. Write to your teacher. Explain why and ask what homework to do.”
Draft a focused response
Example: “Beste docent, dinsdag kan ik niet naar de les komen, omdat mijn kind ziek is. Kunt u mij vertellen welk huiswerk ik moet maken? Met vriendelijke groet, Samira.”
Check against the prompt
The message gives the day, reason and question, and it addresses the teacher politely. In your own practice, change the details to fit the task and check every requested point.
Notice how the message serves its reader
Read the task and identify who will receive the message and why. The sample uses a greeting, a clear reason for writing, the necessary practical detail, and a polite closing. Change names and circumstances in your own practice, then check whether the message would still make sense without seeing the prompt.
