A2 writing practice on paper: handle a task step by step
Practise completing short written tasks by hand, covering each requested point and checking legibility. The examples here are new practice material.
Prepare the four task types
You may need to complete a form, write an email or message, produce a short text, or leave a note. Read the instruction and mark each requested detail before writing. Check that you use the right format and tone for the reader.
Original practice: appointment email
Prompt: You cannot attend a language lesson on Monday because you have a work shift. Write to your teacher, explain the conflict, suggest Tuesday or Wednesday and ask which day is possible. Include a greeting, reason, alternatives and clear question.
Original practice: short form and note
Form: register for a neighbourhood activity. Fill the fields for name, phone and preferred day. For the open question “Why do you want to join?”, write one clear sentence. Note: tell a coworker that a parcel arrived at reception and ask them to collect it before 16.00.
Use a final checklist
Did you include every bullet? Are names, dates and times consistent? Can another person read your handwriting? Check basic verb order, spelling and sentence endings. DUO’s official practice PDFs show the task style; use a 40-minute timer for a full attempt.
