A1 reading: find the key detail in everyday texts
Short A1 notices and messages contain practical clues. Practise spotting a time, place, instruction, or restriction that answers a simple question.
Preview the text
Look at the heading, date, numbers and names first. A notice about opening hours, for example, is likely to contain a time and a day.
Match the question to evidence
For a question about when a shop is closed, find the sentence or symbol that states the closed day. Avoid choosing an answer because the same word appears elsewhere.
Practise with varied formats
Use short signs, messages, schedules and simple forms. After answering, point to the exact words that support your choice.
Try a quick clue-finding routine
Read the question first, then scan for a matching name, time, place, price, or instruction. Check nearby words for signals such as “closed,” “only,” or “tomorrow” that can change the answer. After practice, explain which clue helped you decide and make a small vocabulary list from repeated everyday contexts. Compare words that look similar and use the surrounding line to confirm whether a sign is an instruction, a limit, or a change.
