A1 reading practice: three short everyday tasks
Try fresh A1 notices and messages under a short timer. Look for the one practical detail each question asks you to find.
Try five original mini tasks
1. Notice: De apotheek sluit vandaag om 17.00 uur. Vraag: When does it close? Answer: 17.00. 2. Message: Ik ben vrijdag niet thuis. Vraag: Which day is the person away? Friday. 3. Sign: Alleen pinnen. Vraag: Can you pay with cash? No, card only. 4. Invitation: Kom om 14.30 uur naar de bibliotheek. Vraag: Where is the meeting? The library. 5. Instruction: Neem uw paspoort mee. Vraag: What should you bring? Your passport.
Read for the requested detail
Before reading the whole text closely, look at the question. Find the matching date, name, place, amount or instruction, then read the surrounding words. Watch for negation (niet), restrictions (alleen) and changed plans.
Use exam time deliberately
The A1 reading part has 19 questions within 35 minutes. If one item is difficult, move on and return if the interface allows it. Answer every item and avoid spending too long translating an unknown word when the question can be solved from context.
Review mistakes by clue type
After practice, record whether you missed a time, misunderstood a sign, overlooked a negation or confused who the message was for. Use official practice to learn the actual layout and build confidence with timed sets.
