Official A1 practice for the exam abroad: make a plan

Official A1 sample materials can help you learn task format and timing. Use them to find a skill gap, then revisit the topic with varied exercises.

Know what each resource covers

The A1 exam abroad has KNS, Reading and Speaking. The official online practice includes a short KNS sample, 19 reading questions and 22 speaking prompts. Reading practice is timed for 35 minutes and speaking for 30 minutes. The real interface can look different from the practice site.

Use a computer and microphone

Complete the practice on a desktop or laptop with an internet connection. For Speaking, check that the microphone works and practise answering clearly without reading a full script. This makes it easier to focus on the question during the real test.

Study one part at a time

Use a question list or mock exam to learn the task shape, then note which words, themes or instructions caused difficulty. Practise that area with different examples. For KNS, the small official sample cannot cover every knowledge theme; use the self-study material as well.

Track what improves

Return to a task several days later and see whether your answer is faster or clearer. Keep a simple record of the component, skill and mistake you want to correct. Remember that practice results are for self-checking; the official exam result determines whether you passed.
